World Time Attack Challenge 2025

Spring is upon us and that means one thing. World Time Attack Challenge! It’s my favourite time of year and below you’ll see exactly why. WTAC never disappoints and this year was no different. I have been attending WTAC for over 10 years now and the event only continues to grow and bring fresh ideas to the table. This year really showed that Australian motorsport is alive and deserves to be showcased on the world stage.

World Time Attack Challenge 2025 brought a new class to the racing, the Hypercar class. That meant getting to witness a handful of the worlds most exclusive cars being driven in anger, in what felt like a once in a lifetime opportunity. This class was a well kept secret leading up to the event, however quickly became a main attraction. These hypercars demanded attention from the crowd. From the wild looks of the Ferrari FXX to the spine tingling sound of the Pagani Huayra R, this class was no joke! Joining the FXX and Huayra R was another Pagani, this time a Zonda R and also a Brabham BT62. In other words, artworks on wheels. I hope this class not only sticks around for the foreseeable future, but is expanded upon as well.

In between sessions on track is a great time to go and explore what else is on offer at WTAC. From rally legends, to the worlds quickest and fastest GTR down the quarter mile JUN, to a Super Taikyu endurance racer in the form of the Spoon built Honda Civic EK9 Type R there’s plenty to admire spread throughout the trade stands and displays. Not to mention the amount of parts, merchandise and even meet and greet opportunities there are spread throughout the motorsport park. It’s also a good time to take a look into the garages and see the teams working on cars up close.

Competition stepped up across the board this year with lap times being closer across the different classes than ever before. I do however feel that the Pro and Open classes were lacking in competitors this year compared to years gone by, but blown engines, broken gearboxes and an unlucky accident in practice lead to me unfortunately missing a number of cars I was hoping to see on track. These things happen and it wouldn’t be motorsport without the ups and downs. It’s just a shame when an already small group becomes even smaller due to these incidents.

As always the show and shine presented by Donut Garage showcased some of Sydney and Australia’s cleanest street cars. An incredible variety of cars on display brings a huge crowd and it can take multiple laps of the show and shine to truly see everything. There’s gems everywhere you look.

I hope you enjoy the rest of my photos from the event and if you enjoyed my coverage, be sure to check out more content from other photographers such as J_Hui, Matthew Everingham and Sam Law, to name a few. These guys go above and beyond showcasing WTAC and capture many of the moments that I miss and have been doing so for as long as I can remember.

Oh and I am once again asking for Fire Ando in the Team Escort Evo to make a return to WTAC ASAP and let’s keep the donuts out of pit lane, no matter how good it looks and sounds.
